The cost of living has drastically increased over the past year. These rising costs are impacting the nanny world and I am beginning to see many nannies leave long-term positions for other opportunities offering a higher wage or additional benefits.

Have you found a great nanny? Make sure you are doing everything you can to keep them happy, cared for and valued as they work with your family! Check out my top ten tips for how to keep your nanny in the long term.

I can’t stress how important communication boundaries are for many nannies. Don’t text or call your nanny late at night!

Later today, I’m releasing the second installment in my video blog series titled, “How To Find A Nanny In A Hot Market!” and I wanted to share it with YOU first!

Many parents in the Seattle area (and in other regions of the United States) are reporting that it is taking longer than usual to find the right care provider for their family. I’ve been noticing this as well since about the beginning of March 2021 as I work with parents in our community or through our Concierge Service.

Every year, we ask our community and neighbors to take a survey asking what they pay (parents) or what they are paid (care providers) for in-home child care during the past 12 months. We also ask additional questions about experience level, job duties, benefits offered, employment arrangement, etc.

Childcare Pay Survey Results – December 2020

Over the past several years, we have asked our members and site visitors to complete childcare pay surveys to provide the parents, care providers, and agencies of the Puget Sound region a snapshot of the average pay for different child care scenarios (i.e. one child, two children, nanny shares, sitter, part-time, etc).
